BladderTone is an all natural homeopathic blend.  Many animals suffer from urinary incontinence and this condition can be caused or recognised as spay incontinence, hormonal, obesity or just simply old age.  It affects mostly females, and the most common cause is weakening of the sphincter muscles of the bladder.  Bladdertone has had a lot of success in assisting an animal with this condition.  Also has assisted male dogs with leakage problems.

If there is excessive urination, their urine is blood coloured, your pet is drinking a lot of water or you are worried about your pet, then you should seek veterinarian advice.  As it may be another more serious health issue.

What is Urinary Incontinence in Dogs? Urinary incontinence in dogs and cats is when they lose control of their bladder and have involuntary leaking or dribbling of urine.  It is very common in spayed bitches and is referred to as spay incontinence.  It can also be seen in neutered males and animals that have had injuries to the bladder or sphincter muscles. What causes Urinary Incontinence? Urinary incontinence is mainly due to the inability of the urethral sphincter to close, this is the ring of muscle that contracts to close the opening from the bladder, therefore letting urine leak through. Causes can be:
  • Urinary tract infection can sometimes show as incontinence, the animal may be in too much pain to urinate, so hold on and then leak.  There will be signs of your animal not wanting to urinate or taking a long time, blood in the urine or it could be white and cloudy.  This can be easily diagnosed with urine cultures.
  • Weak bladder sphincter muscles, this is more common in females, and is usually the cause in one in five animals that have urinary incontinence.
  • Excess water consumption, some animals drink a lot of water, but this could be due to other health issues such as Diabetes, Cushing’s disease and Hyperthyroidism.
  • Injuries to the spine or back, this can damage the supply of nerves down to the bladder.
What are the signs? Your pet may have any of the following signs:
  • urine leakage while awake or asleep
  • puddles may be left where your pet was sitting
  • wet bedding
  • licking of the area around the leakage
  • inflamed or burned/scalded skin around the genitals
  • A strong urine smell from your pet or where they sleep.
What can help? Usually a vet can prescribe either a hormone replace or a medication that helps the sphincter muscle to retract.  Naturally we have a remedy in the Natural Pet range that can help to support an animal suffering with urinary incontinence. How to use: BladderTone comes in a liquid form, as we find this is the easiest way to administer.  It is preferred that it is put straight into the mouth of the animal, making sure not to contaminate the dripper.  This can be done by adding the drops to a teaspoon, lifting the lip and place in the mouth. But we do realise that this is not always an option, it can therefore be added to food. Dosage: 4 drops 2-3 times daily for upto 7 days. How long will a bottle last: (based on 7 days as 1 course) Dog & Cat  : 4.5 courses per bottle All instructions are on the bottle. Homeopathic ingredients:  Causticum, Damania, Equestium, Ferrum phos, Kali phos, Sepia All Tagiwig remedies have been developed by a fully qualified Animal Homeopath and Herbalist. Handmade in NZ. All remedies have a shelf life of 5 years. Caution: If this preparation fails to alleviate the condition being treated the user should seek veterinary advice.
